Matchup Summary

Corki's laning phase is relatively easy to play around, as Renekton should look towards abusing Corki when his W is on CD, or using Renekton's E to follow up against his W. Corki doesn't really do much towards Renekton in the early game, allowing Renekton to dictate the trades and force his aggression at will. While Corki does scale into a strong damage dealer, Renekton can easily shut him down if he's given the chance by using his dashes, teammates engages, flashes or punishing Corki's mispositioning, allowing you a way to always have access towards shutting him down.

Detailed Tips

  1. 01

    Level 1 E Start - Try to cheese PTA proc or Conq with E1 > 3 auto's > disengage with E2.

  2. 02

Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Corki you're most likely able to kill him with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Corki lose a lot more.

  3. 03

Respect Corki’s Damage - Corki doesn’t have the most oppressive laning phase, however his poke can be something as he can easily access his damage on to you within the lane. Try to abuse D Shield and Second Wind to help you out sustain his low to medium damage, and try to avoid tanking his autos and E damage as those are his main sources of damage.

  4. 04

Play Around Corki’s W - Corki’s W is 20 seconds on his rank 1 cooldown, making it 4 seconds shorter than Renekton’s E. Abusing this window timer to set up kills is crucial, as your next E trade will not allow him to disengage from your damage within the lane. Try to also time your ganks around baiting his W out, as this will make him a very easy and gankable target for Renekton.

  5. 05

Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.

  6. 06

Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.

  7. 07

Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the ability to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.

  8. 08

Respect Corki’s Scaling - Corki’s overall damage scaling within the match up does massively ramp up, through the main reason of him getting Triforce and Manamune. As Corki’s early game is substantially weaker, you can try to abuse your early game to abuse his late scaling playstyle. Use your map rotations and overall lead to help you and your teammates close the game out as soon as he can scale in the game.

  9. 09

Build Eclipse, Stridebreaker or Profane - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Corki’s mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles.

  10. 10

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - As previously mentioned, as Renekton we want to make sure we can hard abuse our early to mid game presence, to help us create the win conditions we need before Corki scales into the game. Once Corki gets his main items, he will be able to dish out a ton of burst damage, making him a threatening target. As Renekton, we want to try and always focus him and shut him down within the fights, otherwise his utility from his E can make it difficult alongside other AD champions within the game. Alternatively, if Corki is mega behind we can just aim to focus other priority carries.
