Lissandra
Matchup Summary
Lissandra is a pretty easy or difficult match up depending on the lane, as top lane is a lot easier as the lane is a lot longer. When playing in short lane like Mid, Lissandra will try to look to use her abilities to poke you out, while using her E to disengage. As Renekton, try to use Doran's Shield and Second Wind to help sustain through the laning phase, as well as looking to do short combos from level 3. Quick combos while using your W in her E cast time will prevent Lissandra from escaping, allowing you to setup kills whenever she is low, or if you hit your level 6 powerspike. Lissandra can't really do anything if you interrupt her E cast, so make sure to look for this angle for free kills. When it comes to items, Renekton can rush his regular damage items or Mercury Treads. Mercury Treads are pretty important within the later stages of the game, as her lock down style kit allows her and her team to easily shut you down. Make sure to play around your team and avoid being isolated, as your chances of being able to play fights presents way more opportunites than herself.
Detailed Tips
- 01
Play For Sustain Early - Lissandra’s damage within the early game, can lead to a few problems within the match up, as her low CD from Q and her auto attacks can amount up to lowering your overall HP within the lane. When laning into her, using D Shield and Second Wind can severely help us battle through her poke early, allowing us to open up with more trades, as well as punishing her when she starts running out of mana from playing like this.
- 02
Avoid Lissandra’s Poke - To add onto the last point, Lissandra’s poke is a core aspect of her gameplay into the Renekton match up, as she will use her Q and overall damage every time you come close towards minions, or her self when dashing into her. Overall, punishing Lissandra comes from the ability of using your movement correctly, as moving in with short in and out clicks can help you bait out her Q, providing the ability to dash onto her to do quick trades. As long as you keep this up, Lissandra will lose confidence in her ability to play vs Renekton, eventually giving up kills if you play the rest of the match up perfectly.
- 03
Abuse Lissandra E’s - Lissandra’s E allows her to either use it offensively when gap closing towards targets, or she can use it defensively to escape any bad situations. In the Renekton match up, Lissandra will typically hold her E as soon as you dash into her, forcing her to W then use E to escape your close range. Renekton however can prevent Lissandra from using her 2nd E cast, as once he lands onto her with E, Renekton can use W while Lissandra is casting her E to cancel her ability to recast E2, keeping Lissandra in place.
- 04
Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.
- 05
Quick Trades - E > Q > AA > W > AA > E Out / E > Q > W > E / E Q E - These combos allow for Renekton to get quick damage off in being able to keep health up and whittling his opponent down, use these to get your laner low and look for a low HP kill with flash.
- 06
Rush Mercury Treads - Mercury Treads are a great rush into Lissandra, as Renekton can easily break out of her W and R CC timers a lot easier. If Renekton is able to escape Lissandra’s stuns faster, he will be more likely to kill Lissandra or escape any tough situations he’s in. Merc Tread’s also allow Renekton to take less magic damage from her overall kit, while providing additional mobility to side step her Q damage.
- 07
Respect Lissandra Catch Potential - Lissandra’s kit is very good for catching out targets, as she’s able to easily gap close towards, furthermore providing her W and R stuns to help burst and keep her target in place. Renekton however is already pretty good at avoiding Lissandra’s catch potential, as he’s able to use both dashes to easily escape her E engages, or he’s able to cast his E on the right frame of her W, preventing a potential angle to use R. Overall, try to avoid being caught by Lissandra as her ability to lock you down is pretty much a death sentence if her team is around.
- 08
Respect Lissandra’s R - Lissandra’s R is a great ability to help lock down and burst her targets, however Lissandra R can also be used defensively to help her heal back and avoid any incoming damage. Depending on the situation, you should try to take into her account how she will use her R. If you’re looking to fight and kill her, she will most likely use R if you’re near her team, or if she’s trying to prevent you from killing her. If Lissandra is stalling out her death going towards her team, or playing to defend a potential tower dive, Lissandra will use R to heal herself and avoid any incoming damage. Overall, try to evaluate the situation if you can kill her, as well as use your flash and a fast combo if you think you can kill her fast enough before she’s able to ult.

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Lissandra’s motives towards the mid to late game, is trying to force skirmishes or teamfights, using her E as an engage tool to help her gap close towards your teammates, with the intention of using her W and R to help lockdown your carries. Lissandra’s role is pretty simple, with her overall objective trying to set up her damage onto one main target. As Renekton, we should play to prevent her from getting into range. As Lissandra needs to get close into range, we can prepare our W to instantly stun her before she’s able to use her R cast onto our teammates. Lissandra at times may use her R to defend herself, allowing you to prepare your damage as soon as she comes out. Lissandra doesn’t possess the 1v9 damage she needs to carry fights, with that said try to focus her main carries and prevent Lissandra from either setting up the play, or killing her core carries from being able to jump onto your team.
