Matchup Summary

The Zac match up is pretty easy due to Renekton's ability to completely burst him down within the first stages of the lane. Renekton can walk over Zac blobs to prevent his HP, as well as use short Q and W trades, allowing Renekton to burst down Zac's HP bar. Renekton simply just needs to avoid being hit by Zac's Q, as well as avoiding Zac's E knock up. Whenever the wave is on his side of the map, Renekton can force aggressive trades and kill Zac as soon as she tries to disengage. Renekton can also W Zac E to prevent him from escape. By level 6, Renekton's R will help him completley overrun Zac within 1v1's, providing Renekton with the overall advantage. Zac's only win condition to win is by using his E to help him flank your teammates. Make sure to always ping Zac's positioning or try to ward his potential whereabouts. Renekton's brute force power is simply too much for Zac to compete with in the game, making him the superior top lane pick.

Detailed Tips

  1. 01

Level 1 Q Start - Level 1 Q Start - Try to push for level 2 advantage while poking Zac with your Q, on level 2 skill E/W use advantage to chunk out Zac.

  2. 02

Deny Passive Blobs - Zac's power comes from his W blobs, which give HP, damage and W CD reduction. Denying his blobs loses him a lot of consistent power through the lane and he won’t be able to out damage you if he is unable to get his blobs.

  3. 03

Respect Zac's Q E W combo - This combo is essentially him CC locking you from Q'ing the minions and yourself, which is then followed by E and W burst damage, locking you from doing anything. Avoid being hit by his Q, and be cautious using your E.

  4. 04

Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.

  5. 05

Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.

  6. 06

Ping Zac Roams - Zac doesn’t really accomplish much in the laning phase vs Renekton, so he will make sure to roam with his E. Ping immediately as soon as Zac is missing, otherwise he will be able to easily pick up kills for his team.

  7. 07

Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Once you reach level 6 your ultimate will essentially help you consistently stat check and dominate any match ups you were winning or losing. Make sure to always wait for your R CD to help you make plays, otherwise it will lead you towards a major disadvantage in dueling your enemies.

  8. 08

Build Eclipse, Black Cleaver or BoTRK - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Black Cleaver for additional CDR and other versatile stats for utility based gameplay. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build.

  9. 09

Midgame And Teamfighting Tips - Zac’s role within the mid to late game, is simply playing from fog of war and trying to look for big team fight engages. Always respect and ward fog of war zones, otherwise Zac can E to completely change the game with his CC combos and pick potential. Try to kill his carries before he is able to make a play, this essentially renders Zac useless if he has no teammates to play around.
