Bel'Veth
Matchup Summary
Bel'Veth is a completely giant grief pick into Renekton, as her poor ability to handle Renekton results in her getting hard snowballed through most stages of the game. Bel'Veth needs kills or jungle camps to scale with her kit, which is hard for her to obtain in solo lane and this style of match up. Renekton can easily fight her by forcing fights on Bel'Veth when she has CDs on her opposite Q indicators, forcing her to stay in melee range and die to Renekton. Try to also deny Bel'Veth from getting top side objectives, as these can provide her a giant powerspike within the game.
Detailed Tips
- 01
Level 1 Q or E Start - As mentioned through other notes, playing off Q and E both require different plays, however in this match up you can essentially do either of them and have pretty good success. With that said, play around the strengths of level 1 and look for a level 2 kill.
- 02
Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Bel’Veth you're most likely able to kill him with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Bel’Veth lose a lot more.
- 03
Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.
- 04
Abuse Bel’veth Q - Bel’veth’s Q works by her being able to dash into 4 different directions. Her Q against Renekton is most typically used as an escape tool away from him, however Renekton can easily catch up to Bel’veth with his E’s. Most typically, Bel’Veth will try to farm or trade with 2 forward Q’s, then instantly dash away. Once it goes on CD, you can choose to abuse any combos on her as she will have no way to escape, leaving her a sitting duck to the slaughter.
- 05
Avoid Combo’ing Into Bel’Veth W - Her W ability is the only strong tool into dealing with Renekton. While Bel’veth doesn’t really possess any strengths towards fighting Renekton, her W can block from 35% to 55% damage making it a strong tool to lower Renekton’s DPS. There’s two ways to deal with Bel’Veth W, firstly if you’re trying to all in Bel’Veth, you can hold your W till her W wears off, allowing you to burst her down right after with W. Another way is that if you’re low or you’re trying to save an allied teammate, then you can use W to instantly cancel her W activation to stop her from dealing damage. Use your W wisely and hold any additional damage until after her W.
- 06
Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.
- 07
Prevent Bel’veth Obtaining Topside Objectives - Bel’veth is one of the most unique champions in the game, as her obtaining objectives such as Grubs, Herald and Baron, all synergise her passive of getting additional attack speed from her passive, as much as also giving her free R stacks and additional buffs, which overall help with side lane pushing and providing even combat stats for 1v1. With your early advantage try to utilise it to the max by playing off your team to neutralise her receiving these objectives, doing this will make her even more useless and more of a troll pick.
- 08
Build Eclipse, Black Cleaver or BoTRK - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Black Cleaver for additional CDR and other versatile stats for utility based gameplay. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build.
- 09
Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Bel’Veth at this stage in the game as a top lane pick won’t naturally be as strong as she is when she’s played in the jungle, who consistently has access to farm her stacks through jungle camps. With that said, Bel’Veth shouldn’t be nearly as strong as she is so take advantage of that by using your core strength to dominate teamfights. Make sure to play to one shot her carries, or alternatively try to lock her down instantly and allow your team to nuke her out of the fights. Her overall strength will be decided on whether or not she obtained top side objectives, so make sure she was not able to obtain them to truly win the game with ease.
