Matchup Summary

Braum is practically a free match up, as Braum's inability to have damage to fight Renekton essentially makes it a complete auto lose match up for him. While Braum cannot do anything aggressive, defensive Braum is very hard to kill with his shield and E resistances, forcing him to stone wall various situations within the lane. Instead, Renekton can use his strong wave clearing ability to help him crash waves on demand, as well as being able to proxy behind Braum's tower. Proxying allows Renekton to set up tempo advantages through various situations of the game, as well as giving him the ability to kill Braum's jungler. Do note that fighting 1v2 can be tricky, as Braum's passive and R can be used to CC lock Renekton out of fights. With that said, take the right winning fights, as well as using your general advantage to dominate top lane and the rest of the map.

Detailed Tips

  1. 01

Respect His Cheese Playstyle - In the very rare chance, he could have HoB and try to cheese you level 1 with his passive stun, Q and empowered HoB auto attacks. With that, do not try to fight him level 1 and just play for level 2, then the champion is useless. If Braum doesn’t have HoB, you can simply start Q and just look to bully him with Q and look for push, to easily ensure a lead over him.

  2. 02

Respect His Defensive Abilities - Braum's defensive abilities can leave him a bit tricky to kill at points, mainly due to the fact his W gives quite a bit of armour and his E can reduce your damage from 35% to 55%. Try to play for short combos without your E to bait out his abilities, or try to fight Braum behind his shield so your damage won't be reduced.

  3. 03

Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.

  4. 04

Abuse Renekton's Waveclear - A giant advantage Renekton has within this match up, is his overall ability to easily clear minion waves. This can help him achieve perfect tempo resets, or allow him to proxy waves to help increase his gold lead, while also hostaging the enemy top laner under their own tower. Being able to fast clear also forces the enemy into contesting push, allowing you to easily mana burn and create advantageous positions from it. Abuse this strength to cheat out bad laning situations, or increase your overall power within the game.

  5. 05

Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler

  6. 06

Respect Braum's Teamplay - Braum's only real strength within the game is using his kit to help his team. His passive stun, his line up knock up and defensive abilities all triumph over Renekton's ability to peel and protect. Your objective instead is to not let Braum get picks or to pick you off with his jungler. Avoid his Q slow, and use dashes to dash out the way of his R to avoid being caught.

  7. 07

Build Eclipse, Black Cleaver or BoTRK - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Black Cleaver for additional CDR and other versatile stats for utility based gameplay. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build.

  8. 08

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Braum's main purpose for the rest of the game is essentially to stick to his carries, in the objective to peel and protect them. The main difficulty vs a Braum is just how annoying he is at protecting carries. Try to avoid being hit by his passive procs from his auto attacks, Q and R. The main thing Renekton can do is simply go in while Braum is focused on somebody else, quickly utilise your flash combos on his protected target and go for a one shot play. Once Braum's carries are dead you can simply move onto his other targets and finish him off when he is the last one alive.
