Kled
Matchup Summary
Kled is an even match up that requires great movement to help abuse his linear style kit, allowing Renekton to brute force and win out any trades against him. Within the lane, try to walk side to side to dodge Kled's Q, as this prevents him poking Renekton down and setting up his E > Q onto Renekton. When fighting Kled, make sure your abilities are up at all times, as if he engages you can simply use W to disengage away from him, or you can deal heavy trades and force him off of his mount. Once Kled is off his mount, try to play around your W timer to allow you to finish off the kill and prevent Kled from getting back to his mount. Never W Kled on his last bit of mount HP, as your W will lose all value. Post 6 Renekton will overpower Kled within 1v1's, only presenting Kled the ability to look from roams with his R to maximise his champion ability. Try to always spam ping Kled's whereabouts and his path to potentially R. As long as we can correctly avoid Kled's R flanks, as well as protecting our teammates and using our W correctly, Kled won't be able to do much against Renekton.
Detailed Tips
- 01
Level 1 Q Start - Try to push for level 2 advantage while poking Kled with your Q, while playing for push try to avoid Kled’s Q then look towards auto attacking and Q’ing him off the wave. On level 2 skill E/W use advantage to chunk out Kled, or look for the kill if it's there.
- 02
Avoid Kled Q Poke - Kled’s Q throws a chain at his target, allowing him to attach and deal damage towards his target. Once the tether completes, the chain will pull back his target, dealing more damage and slowing them for 2.5 seconds. Kled’s Q goes from 11 to 7 seconds, presenting the ability to hard punish Kled if he misses. Most of the time, Kled will have a pattern when he tries to throw out his Q; Kled will throw Q if you’re walking towards him in a straight line, walking towards low HP minions or when Kled engages with his E. To avoid his Q, we can use short clicks to walk in and out, helping us to feint against Kled to bait out his Q if we’re walking up to him or any minions. Walking side to side also helps when vs Kled Q, as his Q hitbox will narrowly miss Renekton’s. Renekton can also use his E to dodge Kled’s Q, or he can use his E then side step to help him dodge it. If Kled misses Q, this most likely will present you the ability to all in.
- 03
Respect Kled’s Dismount - Kled’s dismounted form is always worth respecting, as his quick ability to gain his mount back in an extended fight, allows him to completely cheese and turn around the fights. Doing extended trades with Kled is usually a bad idea, as his ability to regain W from auto attacking his targets, as well as getting back onto his mount usually leads to losing conditions. Renekton should always play around his abilities no matter what, as these will give him the ability to easily finish Kled and prevent him from getting back to his mount. A big tip against Kled whenever he is low and about to demount, is that you should always hold your W. Holding W allows you to use it in his demounted form, allowing you to finish off Kled with your high damage and stun, preventing Kled from being able to get his mount back. Do note, that if you use W on the last bit of HP of his mount, Kled will remove the rest of your W damage, severely taking away the damage you need to finish him off.
- 04
Avoid Kled W Hits - Kled’s W is another high profile ability we need to worry about when fighting him. Kled W allows his next 4 auto attacks to become empowered, providing 150% bonus attack speed, bonus physical damage and targets maximum HP as damage. Once Kled uses his W, he can lower the CD by 0.5 seconds for each minion hit, while hitting champions lowers Kled’s W by 1.5 seconds for each hit. Kled W is an absolutely high damage ability, so once Kled uses it by hitting minions, we should take advantage of the 13 second CD by forcing a quick trade. Once we use our abilities, we should disengage and avoid trading until they’re back up. Before fighting Kled try to pay attention to his glowing weapon, as that will indicate whether or not he has his W up.
- 05
Quick Trades - E > Q > AA > W > AA > E Out / E > Q > W > E / E Q E - These combos allow for Renekton to get quick damage off in being able to keep health up and whittling his opponent down, use these to get your laner low and look for a low HP kill with flash.
- 06
Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.
- 07
Respect Kled Roams - Kled’s roaming ability paired with his ult, allows Kled to be an absolutely giant threat within skirmishes and teamfights. If Kled manages to use his ult correctly, he can easily create many winning opportunities with his fast flanking ability in combination with his team. When playing vs Kled, try to always track his position on the map. If Kled is missing after shoving a wave or resetting back to base, make sure to ping your teammates to play back. Kled naturally falls off in his overall scaling ability, so making sure he gets nothing for his roams is very important. Once Kled is out of the lane, make sure to abuse his roams or backtimer by hard shoving the wave. Alternatively, shoving in waves can also help waste his R to help him get back to the lane, removing his strong ability to roam outside of the lane.
- 08
3 Points Q > W Max - This playstyle allows you to constantly have W’s to help you stay onto Kled while abusing your high damage ratios, allowing you to easily snowball and permanently shutdown Kled within all stages of the game. Make sure to put 3 points into your early wave clear and poke, then look to max W throughout the rest of your points. Once completed, max your E for additional mobility to help enable your up close stun abusing playstyle. Maxing W also allows you to take extended fights against Kled, providing additional stuns to further nullify Kled.
- 09
Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Once you reach level 6 your ultimate will essentially help you consistently stat check and dominate any match ups you were winning or losing. Make sure to always wait for your R CD to help you make plays, otherwise it will lead you towards a major disadvantage in dueling your enemies.

Build Plated Steelcaps, Eclipse, Black Cleaver or BoTRK - Go Plated Steelcaps to lower Kled’s overall damage and utilise the additional movement speed. / Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Black Cleaver for additional CDR and other versatile stats for utility based gameplay. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build.

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Kled’s mid game role consists of creating chaotic skirmishes, allowing him to easily catch and pick targets towards obtaining major objectives. Kled within the mid game, will try to always look for wave crashes into roam timers. Kled will try to use R for most of his engages by using his R in the following ways: Kled will use R to flank behind the enemy team in teamfights, he will use his R against any isolated squishy targets, or he will use R to allow his team to easily initiate. Kled R is a core ability to play around, as one good R can simply allow him to provide so much value towards his team. Try to always look to disengage if you hear Kled R, as being able to avoid his R location will allow you and your team to escape his advantageous skirmish attempt. If you’re alone, use the R sound queue to avoid being caught out by him and his team. Overall, Kled really doesn’t offer more than his R provides, due to the nature of his weak scaling kit and easy to peel nature. Within teamfights, try to protect your carries from Kled’s E engage, using your stuns and high damage to help demount him faster. If Kled is much weaker in fights, try to focus down his carries as his overall role doesn’t allow him to peel hard enough for his carries.
