Matchup Summary

LeBlanc's first few levels can cause Renekton early problems if he tanks the majority of her damage. Renekton's overall objective is simply trying to play off his Doran's Shield and Second Wind, as well as using his Q to help him return damage each time LeBlanc dashes into him. By level 3, Renekton can use more his W as soon as LeBlanc dashes in, allowing him to burst her down and punish her aggressive plays. Renekton should try to rush Mercury Treads or Hexdrinker, as both allow Renekton to tank LeBlanc's damage, as well as provide him the survivalbility to easily tank her damage. Within the rest of the lane, Renekton will slowly start to overpower and threaten LeBlanc if she tries to engage. LeBlanc's main win condition is trying to roam and pick off squishy targets. Make sure to always ping LeBlanc's map movements to prevent her from picking up free kills, as well as crashing waves and taking plates when she isn't in the lane. LeBlacn's role because non existent if she's unable to build up a lead, allowing Renekton to completely take over the game. Make sure to also use your W as soon as LeBlanc jumps into your team, as this will allow you to easily lock her down and successfully kill her.

Detailed Tips

  1. 01

Play For Sustain Early - LeBlanc’s high damage and kill focused gameplay, will force her to try and do short trades to help burst down Renekton until he’s in LeBlanc’s lethal range. Generally this lane can be hard in the beginning, however Renekton can abuse D Shield and Second Wind to help sustain against LeBlanc’s early aggression. The main objective early is trying to keep your HP up and utilise your sustain playstyle, until you’re able to reach level 3 to return back aggression.

  2. 02

Abuse Renekton Empowered Q - Renekton’s Q is a core ability to poke back against LeBlanc, allowing us to whittle down her HP and sustain within the minion wave. Each time LB looks to dash into you, you can use Q to return back early damage, while hitting her and the minion wave to help you push. Eventually, we can look to use our E > Q trades to help force her W away, or use it to help us wave clear fast.

  3. 03

Respect LeBlanc’s Combo - LeBlanc’s combos can do a lot of damage if you allow her to hit all her abilities onto you, allowing her to easily burst you down with your lack of magic resist early. LeBlanc’s typical combos are AA > Q > W > W Back, or Q > E > W, eventually using R to have an extra dash to help one shot her target. Playing with the intent of rushing magic resist can work wonders vs LeBlanc, completely taking away her overall damage. You can rush Hexdrinker or Mercury Treads to help you through the lane, as these items can help take away her damage and allow you to be more offensive within the lane.

  4. 04

Abuse LeBlanc’s W - LeBlanc’s W allows her to dash and deal damage towards her target, allowing her to also instantly cast W back to her original location. LeBlanc’s W can be very annoying within the game, as she can waste your time chasing her or force heavy damage trades. While this does create a struggle for other champions, Renekton can actually hard counter LeBlanc if he times W correctly. Renekton can instantly W LeBlanc if she chooses to dash onto him, allowing him to chain combo on top of a stunned LeBlanc, or if LeBlanc recasts W fast enough, Renekton W will still stun and deal damage back to her. Overall LeBlanc has to be very cautious when using W, as a single Renekton W is enough for him to force a kill onto her. Make sure to quickly spam W as soon as LeBlanc tries to dash on you with her typical combo.

  5. 05

Abuse LeBlanc’s W Cooldown - To add onto punishing LeBlanc, Renekton can play to abuse her W’s 15 to 11 seconds cooldown. If LeBlanc aimlessly plays to deal damage in the lane, Renekton can use her W downtime to force a fight with his E and look to heavily trade her. LeBlanc’s squishy stats cannot sustain Renekton’s combos, creating an all in angle as soon as he reaches her, or forcing her back to base to miss out on minions and lose map control. It should also be said that you should not really try to force fights before she uses her W, as LeBlanc can simply dash out of your engage, while being able to use her W back and land her Q or E onto you, making you lose the trade overall. Situationally, using your dash first is only good if you want to play to mana burn her or burn her dash before a major fight.

  6. 06

Avoid LeBlanc’s Clone - LeBlanc’s clone can help confuse and troll her enemies, allowing her to control it after being bursted, forcing her enemies to use ignite or their remaining damage onto it. When fighting LeBlanc, it’s important to track her overall positioning and what she does next. For example, if LeBlanc was bursted by Renekton and she stands still in the position you did your damage, she most likely will bait you to chase the clone, then look to dash right after away. Tracking LeBlanc’s clone at times can definitely be difficult, leading her to cheese away from her deaths, however if you manage to ignite LeBlanc before you burst her into her passive, you will be able to easily track her, as her real form will have the ignite symbol above its head. Overall try to use logic, as well as your own ignite to track where she is.

  7. 07

Quick Trades - E > Q > AA > W > AA > E Out / E > Q > W > E / E Q E - These combos allow for Renekton to get quick damage off in being able to keep health up and whittling his opponent down, use these to get your laner low and look for a low HP kill with flash. Try to do combos when LeBlanc’s W or R is on cooldown, as this will allow you to have a clear trading window that will severely help you in beating LeBlanc.

  8. 08

Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.

  9. 09

Ping LB Roams - LeBlanc’s biggest power within the match up is simply trying to out roam you, with her objective trying to assassinate your squishy teammates on the map. LeBlanc’s high mobility from her W and R, allow her to easily gap close and provide the damage she needs to snowball out of control. Our job is simply trying to spam ping her roam attempts, while trying to crash our wave state into her side of the map. Doing this allows us to punish her by obtaining gold from plates, while also making her lose out on gold and xp. Never try to give LeBlanc wave priority, otherwise she will perma roam until she’s able to get the kills she needs.

  10. 10

Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Prior to this point in the match up, if Renekton has farmed safely and rushed defensive boots in the match up, Renekton is now ready to fight his opponent in an all in. Renekton's high base damage and stats from his R, allows Renekton to completely stat check his counter match up. Simply wait for the enemy to make a mistake, then go all out and kill your opponent.

  11. 11

Build Eclipse, Stridebreaker or Profane - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple LeBlanc's mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles.

  12. 12

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - LeBlanc’s role through the mid to late game, will play with the intent of looking to assassinate any squishy or low HP targets, using cunning and stealthy approach to look for the right angles and timings to one shot her targets. LeBlanc’s playstyle highly depends on having a good early game, as her natural ability falls off the later the game gets, due to people building sustain and having more ways to defend against her damage. Typically as long as you can ping LeBlanc’s roams and prevent her from snowballing the laning Phase, LeBlanc will always struggle into finding her position within the game. When it comes to teamfights or skirmishes, try to hold your W for any of LeBlanc’s engages into your team, as one single stun will leave her killable for you and your team. Renekton can typically one shot LeBlanc doing either W > R > Q > AA or W > R > E > Q > AA, as these combos allow you to abuse LeBlanc while she’s stunned, taking away her ability to survive the rest of the fight or forcing her to completely disengage away from the fights. As long as you can protect your carries from getting one shot by her, LeBlanc will not be able to play her role as an assassin.
