Matchup Summary

Lee Sin is pretty much an easy match up to deal with as Renekton, as Renekton's early damage and high stats completely gap Lee in terms of his overall relevancy within the top lane. Lee Sin's only hope of beating Renekton is actually going ignite and using his Q to all in Renekton level 1. Renekton simply can kill Lee if he plays within his minion wave, allowing him to easily out trade and beat Lee with Q start. Renekton's main goal should be trying to reach level 3 before looking for any kill opportunties, as this will provide Renekton his entire access to win the match up. Lee Sin's only other hope within the game is trying to look for kick plays for his team, being completely dependant on landing Q's or having flash. Within fights, Renekton can try to instantly stun Lee as soon as he gets into range, preventing Lee from getting his kick off and ruining his overall objective within the teamfight.

Detailed Tips

  1. 01

Respect Lee Sin Level 1 - Lee Sin’s only way he can ever kill a Renekton, is trying to force a level 1 trade with his Q start. Lee Sin will typically walk out of the bush or behind his minion wave, with his goal focus trying to auto attack you down with his Q and passive, waiting until his second Q trade to help finish off his kill based on your missing health. This is all Lee Sin will try to do, meaning if he misses even a single Q or you play defensive enough, Lee Sin will have no other option in being able to win the lane. Overall Renekton can simply play around his minions to avoid Lee Sin’s Q, while trying to actively kite towards his side of the map. With good spacing and ignite, you can potentially kill Lee Sin level 1 if you play it well enough, however playing for level 2/3 will simply give you that opportunity regardless.

  2. 02

Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Lee Sin you're most likely able to kill him with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Lee Sin lose a lot more.

  3. 03

Avoid Lee Sin Q - Lee Sin’s Q can single handedly help him win or lose a fight, meaning if he lands it his overall probability of winning a fight is much higher within the early game. If Lee misses it, Lee Sin loses all value within his trade, missing out on his Q’s missing HP damage the lower a target gets. With that said, if we can make Lee miss Q with our movement, trying to walk side to side or kite between minions, Lee Sin will never get the fights he needs. Overall Renekton’s stat checking power post level 1, will simply be too much for him to even have success against, but furthermore taking away his Q power will leave him a complete troll pick within the lane.

  4. 04

Shield Break Lee Sin W - Lee Sin’s W allows him to dash towards an ally minion, teammate or ward, on top of also providing him ability to heal based off his damage and provide a shield in the process. When Lee tries to get into your range, he will use W to help sustain him in the fight, on top of using the shield to help mitigate against any of your incoming damage. Renekton however can simply use his empowered W, to allow him to easily shield break and stun Lee from being able to sustain within the 1v1. Overall, playing for your abilities and abusing Lee’s W, will help you overpower him and take away his ability to even fight with you.

  5. 05

Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.

  6. 06

Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.

  7. 07

Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the ability to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.

  8. 08

Respect And Avoid Lee R - Lee Sin’s only hail marry into the Renekton match up, is trying to utilise a high value kick to help him knock Renekton towards a tower, or into his teammates. Lee Sin can typically do this with his Insec combo, using Q > Ward Jump Behind > R or Q > R > Flash Behind. These combos allow Lee to reposition behind his target, allowing him to kick his targets in his intended way. Usually Lee Sin’s combos are very predictable, making it very easy to read when he tries to attempt them. Lee Sin will either do it if you’re near his tower, he will try to do it if you’re an isolated target next to his team, or he will try to do it towards your main carries while you’re in a teamfight. Overall, you can time your E once he lands on you with his Q, allowing your dash to go through Lee while he kicks you in the dashed direction. You can also sit next to your teammates who have been Lee Q’d, then wait to stun him as soon as he travels towards them with Q. If you successfully prevent his R attempts, Lee will be insanely useless.

  9. 09

3 Points Q > W Max - This playstyle allows you to constantly have W’s to help you stay onto Lee Sin while abusing your high damage ratios, allowing you to easily snowball and permanently shutdown Lee Sin within all stages of the game. Make sure to put 3 points into your early wave clear and poke, then look to max W throughout the rest of your points. Once completed, max your E for additional mobility to help enable your up close stun abusing playstyle.

  10. 10

Build Eclipse, Black Cleaver or BoTRK - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Black Cleaver for additional CDR and other versatile stats for utility based gameplay. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build. (11 Mid Game + Teamfighting tips - Lee Sin’s overall threat lowers through the game, as he functions primarily as a Q engage R bot the later the game gets. Overall Lee’s ability to apply his damage and fight targets is a lot harder, due to kit being too linear and leading towards him getting outscaled. Lee Sin will only be a threat if he opts into full damage, however making him a much easier target to one shot and punish overall. Lee Sin within fights will try to look for any targets with his Q, using his Q2 to help him get close allowing him to get into kick range. If you can deny Lee using his R effectively, Lee Sin won’t be able to do much else within a fight. With that said, in teamfights try to stun Lee and interrupt his play pattern by stunning him as soon as he lands on his target, as this will ruin his opportunity to use his R effectively. Overall, Lee cannot really do much and you can easily remove him in fights if you land on him in melee range.
