Matchup Summary

Lulu is practically a free match up for Renekton to snowball against, as her weak stats and laning ability provide Renekton a free pass to easily win lane. While Lulu is a free match up, there are a few scenarios where she can be very annoying to deal with. Preferably when fighting Lulu within solo lane, try to play the wave off your side of the map as you can easily set up kills, while also not having to worry about her polymorph preventing you from killing her. Within the mid to late game, Lulu can be a great asset towards saving carries, so make sure to either nuke your chosen target before she gets into range to save them, or focus her within or before a fight to prevent her from using her high utility.

Detailed Tips

  1. 01

    Level 1 E Start - Try to cheese PTA proc or Conq with E1 > 3 auto's > disengage with E2.

  2. 02

Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Lulu level 1, you're most likely able to kill her with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Lulu lose a lot more.

  3. 03

Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.

  4. 04

Respect Lulu W - Lulu doesn’t really offer any resistance against Renekton’s strong laning and champion power, meaning you’re able to force as heavy trades as you can. Do note that Lulu can use her W to help stop Renekton’s trades, or force him to think twice before making a play onto one of her teammates. With that said, try to take fights at the right time, otherwise Lulu W can force some awkward situations if you’re not paying much attention to the situation you’re in. Before diving a Lulu, make sure to bait her W first by walking into her, then use your full combo as soon as her W has worn off.

  5. 05

Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.

  6. 06

Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the ability to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.

  7. 07

Respect Lulu's R - Just like Lulu’s W, her R allows her to gain additional HP and increase the size of her or her target she uses it on. When fighting Lulu, you can easily get her R out by forcing any fight post 6. Her R is only a worry within teamfights, as she will use it to provide additional peeling power towards her carries, preventing you from potentially one shotting the target you have jumped on. With that said, the best way to deal with her R is coordinating your team to all jump on one high profile target to force and waste her R, or simply bait a fight then look to disengage away from the ulted target. Overall Lulu’s R will only have high value if she’s doing well, as well as her main carries, so play accordingly and respect R if you’re trying to fight against multiple people.

  8. 08

Build Eclipse, Stridebreaker or Profane - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Lulu's mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles.

  9. 09

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Lulu solo lane doesn’t really achieve much by herself, hence why as a pick she will mainly be around her carries to help enhance their overall carry potential. Lulu’s kit is perfect for denying Renekton’s gameplay, making it a frustrating pick if she’s able to have a good team to play around it. Lulu’s overall sidelining ability is a giant weak point within the game, due to her lack of damage and wave clearing ability, allowing Renekton to do whatever he wants within those parts of the map. When it comes to skirmishes and teamfights, Renekton’s role is to initiate as a frontliner to force big fights and use his bruiser stats to help soak damage and disrupt the enemy back line. Lulu’s lack of ability to act as a front liner severely hurts her comp's chances of winning fights, allowing Renekton to have higher quality moments in a fight than Lulu is able to provide. As previously mentioned, we need to be careful with how we approach Lulu’s carry targets, as she’s able to W and R against us. To combat this, we need to either instantly kill Lulu and bait her to use her R on herself, or as a team we need to collectively jump onto her target to remove them from the game. As soon as her team loses her main win condition carry, Renekton will be able to keep dominating fights and easily win the game.
