Matchup Summary

Milio is a pretty simple match up essentially, as you're able to do whatever it want when it comes to the laning phase. The only thing worth mentioning is how annoying his Q can be, as this can buy him time to survive the laning phase. Whenever Milio wastes his Q, you can engage into him and force a heavy trade, allowing you to potentially one shot him, or get him low enough for a tower dive. Always make sure to respect his R's instant cleanse, as this can allow him or teammates to survive low HP situations. When it comes to general gameplay, you can just crash waves and freeze at will, allowing you to always have a lead and a giant strength within the match up.

Detailed Tips

  1. 01

Level 1 Q Start - Try to push for level 2 advantage over Millio by using your Q to hard shove the first two waves. You cannot really kill Millio before level 3, as his Q can help knock you back if you try to get close into range. Make sure to play for the wave bounce on your side, then look to be creative with your kill opportunities with E.

  2. 02

Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once having the wave positioned on your side after letting the waves bounce, you can attempt to kill him when he’s overextended on your side of the map. To avoid Millio from ruining your engage, try to look for a double dash when he least expects it, by looking away with your character position, then trying to double dash as soon as he moves forward, with the intent of landing behind and dodging his Q. Once you’re in this position, try to do as much damage as you can before you get him into lethal range. Once he is low, you can try to look for a flash play and try to finish off his remainder of his HP.

  3. 03

Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.

  4. 04

Respect Millio Q - Milios’s Q is a very annoying ability at all times, essentially because he can remove any access we have in being able to reach him. Milio’s Q is 10 seconds CD, providing him the ability to counter our 16 second CD dash. While this does create some issues, we can just try walking up to him to help us bait his Q. Walking up to him, especially when buying movement speed, will allow us to get into range or bait his Q before we’re able to reach him. If he does this, we can then use our E and look to punish his Q down time by forcing a giant trade.

  5. 05

Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.

  6. 06

Respect Millio R - Milio does absolutely nothing when it comes to playing vs Renekton, however his R ability can really cuck Renekton in being able to kill his carries. Milio R will free any of his allies, using his cleanse to remove any CC effects, alongside healing his allies from 150 > 350+ HP. When playing around Milio R, we have to reserve our flash combos until we get his R down. We can usually bait his R in a fight, if we try to use our W onto his main priority targets. This will then force him to instantly R, allowing us to quickly disengage and depart us from continuing a fight. Most often, we want to wait for our own teammates to bait his R out before we use our W, so make sure to play around his R CD then look for any fights that you can.

  7. 07

Build Eclipse, Stridebreaker or Profane - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Millio’s mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles.

  8. 08

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - As previously mentioned, Millio doesn’t really ever pose a threat towards Renekton within any 1v1 circumstances, providing Renekton a free match up for him to essentially take whatever he wants within the top side. The only strength Millio has over Renekton, is his own ability to try and stop you from killing his carry targets. Nothing really changes in terms of teamfighting knowledge from what I talked about with his R, however our main strengths that come into these style of match ups is using our overall top lane lead then applying it into the rest of the map. When sidelaning, Renekton can essentially do whatever he wants as he’s able to take any side lane tower without the threat of Millio really bothering him. Just make sure when you’re side laning that you avoid fighting multiple people, as giving up any free gold with the lead is always bad. Try to play off trinkets, then push or take fights accordingly.
