Detailed Tips

   Play For Sustain Early - Taliyah’s early game is pretty impossible to do much without any ganks, as her low CD Q and her E completely stop Renekton from any aggressive engages. As Renekton, all we can do is suffer while also abusing D Shield and Second Wind to help us survive in the lane, ultimately playing for CS leads or waiting for Taliyah to waste E is all we can do if we want any success.

   Avoid Taliyah Q Poke - Taliyah’s Q’s CD and high damage completely deters Renekton from being able to do much in lane, with that said all we can do is play around her minions and try to avoid any Q’s by walking side to side and utilising good movement. If Taliyah does run out of mana spamming Q, you can try to be more aggressive and try to focus your kill angles around this scenario.

   Respect Taliyah's E - By far one of the most horrible abilities to play vs in the game, as her E can completely cancel your dash and stun you into her one shot. All we can simply do is never E, unless we can force it out for our teammates ganks or if she already used it. Also, if Taliyah uses it aggressively she can use her W to redirect you towards her E, allowing to setup her combo.

   Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.

   Play For Ganks - With Taliyah being a very hard match up, Renekton essentially needs ganks in being able to play the lane. Ganking Taliyah is actually pretty easy as Taliyah cannot E both of you, allowing for either of you to easily access her and utilise each other’s CC or high damage to help burn flashes or obtain kills. Try to spam ping assistance whenever she over extends, or try to burn Taliyah E and communicate with your jungler to come after it.

   Ping Taliyah Roams - Taliyah’s strong point is also her ability to roam the map, using her passive movement speed near walls or her ult to instantly gap close and catch her opponents. As Taliyah’s waveclear is super strong, try to instantly ping her whereabouts and spam ping on top of your teammates to avoid any conflict. Renekton can match Taliyah’s wave clear to punish her, however be cautious that she could bait you to push, with her coming out the side with her jungler.

   Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Prior to this point in the match up, if Renekton has farmed safely and rushed defensive boots in the match up, Renekton is now ready to fight his opponent in an all in. Renekton's high base damage and stats from his R, allows Renekton to completely stat check his counter match up. Simply wait for the enemy to make a mistake, then go all out and kill your opponent.

   Rush Hexdrinker, Eclipse or Stridebreaker - Go Hexdrinker to lower Taliyah's overall damage and have a MR shield / Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Taliyah’s mobility and provide teammates with additional utility.

    Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Playing vs Taliyah is always a struggle at most points in the game, due to her damage always being so high and her ability to easily cancel Renekton’s E. With that said, we must always play with caution vs Taliyah and we should aim to avoid using our E before she uses hers, otherwise we will waste any opportunity to reach her or other teammates. Generally against Taliyah we just want to aim to play for isolated picks vs her or her team, as killing anyone will lead to a great success rate in being able to play teamfights. Be aware of her pick potential with her team, try not to overextend without knowing where she or her team is. Within teamfights let her use her E first, in which you can abuse this right after by jumping onto her with your dashes or flash. Overall, your objective ranges between avoiding skirmishes or walking into fog of war territories vs Taliyah, while trying to look for picks and playing to protect your win conditions.
