Detailed Tips

1. 01

   Alcove Strat - Level 1 try to rush into the topside alcove with E start to avoid being zoned off the wave level 1. Being zoned off leaves Renekton in a terrible position, however being in the alcove prevents losing XP and losing any necessary HP. Once you achieve the first wave of XP, try to leave the alcove safely through bushes and walk towards your side of the wave state.

   Play For Sustain Early - Vayne’s terrifying early game is very much to be respected. Early on your objective is to keep your HP up, while trying to stay in XP range and farm any CS that’s under your tower. Wait for Vayne to walk up like an NPC then look to combo her on your side of the map. Utilise D Shield + Second Wind to survive any early poke.

   Respect Vayne's Early Game - Vayne’s early game overall is very dangerous, her true damage passive, Q poke spam and her high passive movement speed, all make her a dangerous factor in trying to go for fights. Like previously mentioned, play safe and look to take short trades to whittle her HP down and look for any major misplays.

   Respect Vayne's E - Vayne’s E is also another ability you really have to think about. Typically Vayne will use E any time Renekton tries to engage her. Try to avoid E’ing near walls, otherwise she will stun you into it and mass fire tons of damage onto you. The main takeaway from Vayne E, is that if she doesn’t have it, she will be very easy to gank. Alternatively, if Vayne is killable, you can double dash when she least expects it and land behind her, to cut off her way of escape, providing you a free kill opportunity. Later on Renekton can hard counter Vayne with Edge of night, as her E is the only ability to break it.

5. 05

   Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.

6. 06

   Play For Ganks - Vayne is a very dangerous match up, which also heavily outscales Renekton the longer the game goes. Try to ask or ping for ganks to allow you to shut down Vayne a lot easier. Make sure you play waves on your side of the map, to allow your jungler to gank your lane.

7. 07

   Quick Trades - E > Q > AA > W > AA > E Out / E > Q > W > E / E Q E - These combos allow for Renekton to get quick damage off in being able to keep health up and whittling his opponent down, use these to get your laner low and look for a low HP kill with flash.

8. 08

   Rush Plated Steelcaps - Due to Vayne's high movement speed and auto attack damage, Renekton needs to rush boots to have a chance to fight Vayne. Once Renekton purchases boots, he is able to stick onto Vayne more effectively while also lowering her overall damage output.

9. 09

   Respect Vayne's R - Vayne R is a really, REALLY scary ability. So unless you have ultimate and plated steelcaps, you most likely won't be able to do anything if Vayne all in's you within the middle of the lane. Try to instantly dip out and escape, otherwise it's GG.

10. 10

    Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Prior to this point in the match up, if Renekton has farmed safely and rushed defensive boots in the match up, Renekton is now ready to fight his opponent in an all in. Renekton's high base damage and stats from his R, allows Renekton to completely stat check his counter match up. Simply wait for the enemy to make a mistake, then go all out and kill your opponent.

    Build Edge of Night, Eclipse or Stridebreaker - Go Edge of Night to completely counter Vayne E, while allowing the ability to burst down and kill Vayne / Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Vayne's mobility and provide teammates with additional utility.

12. 12

    Midgame + Teamfighting Tips - No matter what point of the game or what score Vayne has, you always need to try and shut her down. Her W true damage is always a consistent tool for Vayne to always be relevant, dealing damage to her targets no matter how much HP they have. Try to shut down Vayne in fights as quickly as you can by dashing onto her with E or your flash to help you one shot her out the fight. Alternatively, use red trinket to help you spot her out in her R active, which can allow you to trace her movement at all times.
