Veigar
Matchup Summary
Detailed Tips
- 01
Level 1 E Start - Try To Cheese PTA Proc or Conq With E1 > 3 Auto's > Disengage With E2
- 02
Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you start E and chunk out Viegar, you're most likely able to kill him With Flash up And Shoving the Wave. Killing him here means he can miss out on gold and xp, while also setting you up for an escape with your dashes or flash.
- 03
Abuse Renekton's Early Game - Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.
- 04
Respect Veigar’s Cage - Veigar’s cage is a very annoying ability when it comes to trading onto him. Veigar E has great utility in the fact it can be used aggressively or defensively. With that said, try to abuse it’s 0.5 cast time to get all the damage you can onto him, while trying to actively avoid the damage inside the cage too. Once Veigar has no cage, look to kill him under his tower, or whenever your next E or Flash W is available.
- 05
Respect Veigar's R - Veigar’s R is a very scary tool as the game progresses. Depending on how fed he is, later on you should itemise a magic resist item to mitigate against the damage dealt. The trick to playing vs it, is making sure you’re not low enough for his lethal range. Try to avoid his Q and W from getting you low, on top of utilising your own level 6 HP to mitigate against his total R damage execute.
- 06
Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.
- 07
Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the abiltiy to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.
- 08
Rush Mercury Treads, Eclipse, Stridebreaker Or Profane - Go Mercury Treads To Lower Veigar’s Overall Damage And CC Duration / Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Veigar's mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles.
- 09
Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - The main objective through this match up is essentially using your early game lead to posture towards taking every objective and winning fight you can with your early game power. If the game goes super long, Veigar’s eventually passive stacking will allow him to reach an endless amount of AP per each kill and minion he is killing with Q. Try to invest in a Kaenic later on in the game to lower Veigar’s overall one shot potential, on top of trying to flash one shot him within the fights. If you kill Veigar at all within these stages, the game is ultimately free. However, try to also utilise vision to not get caught out by Veigar’s great pick potential with his E.
