Matchup Summary

Yunara doesn't really do anything to Renekton, as her lack of mobility pre 6 forces her into being killed by Renekton on repeat. Renekton can force heavy burst trades from level 3, forcing him to get a kill by his 2nd E trade, or every 1st trade once he gets his first few components. By level 6, Yunara spikes in her ability to apply damage within a fight, however Renekton's level 6 powerspike is way too much for her to deal. Renekton can essentially do whatever he wants within this match up, allowing him to easily snowball the map and win the game through objectives and teamfights.

Detailed Tips

  1. 01

    Level 1 E Start - Try to cheese PTA proc or Conq with E1 > 3 auto's > disengage with E2.

  2. 02

Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Yunara you're most likely able to kill her with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Yunara lose a lot more.

  3. 03

Respect Yunara’s Q - Yunara’s Q requires 8 stacks to use, with each minion and monster providing 1 stack and champions providing 2 stacks. Once Yunara has max stacks, she is able to unleash a flurry of damage providing 25% to 65% attack speed, additional on hit damage and allowing her to spread her damage across other targets. Yunara’s Q doesn’t really do much within the early game, allowing you to easily fight and out damage her at will. Later on in the game, Yunara’s Q damage will become threatening within the later stages, so make sure to avoid tanking her damage within these stages of the game.

  4. 04

Avoid Yunara’s W - Yunara’s W allows her to throw out a ball, slowing and dealing damage. Yunara’s W can also pass through other targets, allowing it to deal additional damage to clumped up targets. Yunara’s W isn’t really a threat in lane, so you can simply E through it and avoid the additional damage it is able to deal.

  5. 05

Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.

  6. 06

Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.

  7. 07

Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the ability to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.

  8. 08

Respect Yunara’s R - Yunara’s R allows her to enter a flow state, amplifying all her abilities for 15 seconds. Yunara’s Q through this time does not need to be stacked, allowing her to use its activation through the duration of her R. Yunara’s W is upgraded into a laser beam, lowering its overall CD through the duration of her R. Yunara’s E also changes from a movement speed steroid to a dash, allowing her to keep her distance away from other champions. Yunara’s R is a giant steroid and powerspike towards her kit, allowing her to become a giant threat within the later stages of the game. Earlier on, Yunara does not possess the damage to really beat Renekton, relying entirely on her scaling playstyle to become a threat.

  9. 09

Build Eclipse, Stridebreaker or Profane - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Yunara’s mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles.

  10. 10

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Yunara’s overall kit heavily leans towards her later game scaling, allowing her to utilise her R steroid more effectively. Once Yunara has core items such as Kraken, Runaan’s and Infinity Edge, she will be able to deal an insane amount of damage within teamfights. Renekton’s overall job against Yunara, is trying to look for any shutdowns he can. Yunara’s natural peeling ability isn’t that great compared to bot lane, so exploiting her weak solo efforts of playing 1v1’s or trying to flank and make use of her damage, leaves her in a vulnerable position for Renekton to easily deal with her. Within the side lane, Renekton can just opt into his core damage items to help him easily one shot Yunara without her having resistance against him. Within teamfights, Yunara will try to use her R and fire off with her Q and W, to allow her to mass spread her AoE damage to shred her targets. As Renekton, we should try to instantly look to shut her down by engaging onto her with our dash and stun. Yunara’s kit simply cannot survive Renekton’s potential onslaught, making her an easy target for Renekton.
