Fiddlesticks
Matchup Summary
Fiddlesticks is practically an easy match up within the lane, however his mid game focused playstyle with his R allows him to easily come back within the later stages of the game. Within the lane, try to avoid tanking his W drain damage by using your W to instantly cancel it, executioners to lower his overall healing or walking out of range to avoid providing him HP and damage. When playing vs Fiddle, avoidng his E is also essential to looking for fights, you can do this by weaving in and out with short mouse clicks. Buying Mercury Treads is very helpful against his overall CC, allowing you to easily stay onto him after he fears, providing you the close up range you need to help you overpower and shut him down. When pushing up against Fiddle's tower, make sure to avoid being caught by his R, as this is an instant kill if used correctly. Within the rest of the game, try to ward over walls and provide vision against his potential R, as one good R is enough for him to win the game.
Detailed Tips
- 01
Respect Fiddle's Level 1 - When it comes to level 1, Fiddlesticks actually has the edge over most of his opponents due to his W draintank playstyle. Fiddlesticks essentially will walk up to you and the wave then simply W, preventing you from getting any chance to punish him or outpush him. One thing you could do is take W start to cancel his W altogether, also preventing him getting his W back a lot faster. However, as decent as this is your still gated by your own long W cooldown, so instead you should use this to reach level 2 in being able to take E to potentially cheese a level 2 kill.
- 02
Abuse Renekton's Early Game - Renekton naturally is the stronger champion between the two, Renekton is able to cancel his main source of wave clear and sustain with his W, leading into being able to win the rest of the fights with the remaining part of your auto attacks and abilities. Try to keep the lane long against Fiddle so he is forced to walk up into range, presenting you with the opportunity to kill him.
- 03
Play For Manaburn - Fiddlesticks can most certainly be annoying when it comes to finishing off the kill, with the fact he can fear and silence you to prevent you from staying on top of him. While it is annoying, he expends a lot of mana in trying to defend himself in these moments, in which you out sustain from based on your kit and items. Continue to freeze the lane on your side of the map and repeat your E trades until he runs out of mana, forcing him to miss a lot of gold and xp, or providing you a free kill in the process.
- 04
Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.
- 05
Rush Mercury Treads - Rushing Mercury Treads into Fiddlesticks is the answer to hard countering his overall cheesy playstyle. Once you have Mercs Fiddlestick's Fear and Silence won't be able to save Fiddlesticks if you dash onto him, leaving him a free target for any engage or extended fight.
- 06
Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the ability to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.
- 07
Respect Fiddlesticks R + Roams - Fiddle R is a giant tool for game winning plays. With that said, try to always ping Fiddlesticks whereabouts on the map at all times, as he can easily gank lanes from fog of war with his R. Also if you're shoving the wave and fiddle sticks is missing, respect the fact Fiddle can R over the wall and instant one shot you under his tower.
- 08
Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Once you reach level 6 your ultimate will essentially help you consistently stat check and dominate any match ups you were winning or losing. Make sure to always wait for your R CD to help you make plays, otherwise it will lead you towards a major disadvantage in dueling your enemies.
- 09
Build Eclipse, Black Cleaver or BoTRK - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Black Cleaver for additional CDR and other versatile stats for utility based gameplay. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build.

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Within the mid game, Fiddlesticks's overall objective is to simply look for R plays for his teams. These situations are absolutely crucial to avoid, otherwise Fiddlesticks can solo carry a game off 1 button alone with how much utility and damage it provides. A few ways to deal with this is always warding objectives, use blue trinkets if you can't walk up safely for vision. You can also try to bait it out by pushing up then instantly disengaging with your E's, although this is very risky and you need to have foresight on Fiddlesticks to begin with. Another aspect is that if you can play to catch Fiddlesticks, doing this with the objective to cancel his R is an absolutely giant play. So whenever Fiddlesticks is looking to R, try to instantly cancel it with your W to remove the overall presence he can provide for fights. Overall, if Fiddlesticks doesn’t have R he simply cannot do anything, so base your overall plays and timers to avoid fighting against Fiddlesticks when he has R available, also try to play fights when he is on the opposite side of the map if you get the opportunity to.
