Janna
Matchup Summary
Janna is a pretty easy match up to deal with, as her lack of damage and laning power provides her no real way to beat Renekton within lane. While Janna is a free pass match up, her ability to survive and cuck Renekton out of kills is definitely apparent. Make sure to look for proxy attempts any chance you get, as this allows you to easily amass a giant CS lead as well as providing you the power to invade and kill her jungler. Janna's only real option to be relevant is actually using her champion to roam, so make sure you spam ping enough where Janna's whereabouts are at all times. Within the mid game, you can essentially do whatever you want to win, however make sure to either hard focus her carries when she is not present within the fights, or force her to use her Q and R to take away her overall power at protecting her teammates.

Level 1 E Start - Try To Cheese PTA Proc or Conq With E1 > 3 Auto's > Disengage With E2.

Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Janna level 1, you're most likely able to kill her with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Janna lose a lot more.

Abuse Renekton's Waveclear - A giant advantage Renekton has within this match up, is his overall ability to easily clear minion waves. This can help him achieve perfect tempo resets, or allow him to proxy waves to help increase his gold lead, while also hostaging the enemy top laner under their own tower. Being able to fast clear also forces the enemy into contesting push, allowing you to easily mana burn and create advantageous positions from it. Abuse this strength to cheat out bad laning situations, or increase your overall power within the game.

Respect Janna Q - Janna’s Q is probably one of the only things you need to worry about when it comes to this match up, as if timed right she can instantly cancel your dash before you get E2, or she can use it to simply peel you away from her carries or herself within the lane. Overall, if Janna is play her Q well enough, simply just play to proxy or play to freeze her out and let her waste Q to get the wave. If she uses Q to get minions, try to abuse this by double dashing from the wave with the intent of heavy trading her. Doing this can help you tower dive her or force her to back.

Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.

Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the ability to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.

Ping Janna’s Roams - Janna as a champion absolutely sucks as a laner, so expect her to cheese roams the whole game to get her teammates ahead. Simply spam ping her movements and play for perma push to punish Janna’s decision making, as this will help you easily snowball the game and dominate top side of the map.

Respect Janna's R - Janna’s R can be quite an annoying ability when it comes to playing against it. Most of the time at this point, if you try to fully commit to Janna she will instantly press R to knock you away. As annoying as this is burning her ult is an absolute win, as any chance a teamfight or skirmish opens up, if she has no R to play around she instantly loses all value to protect her carries from your engages.

Build Eclipse, Stridebreaker or Profane - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Janna’s mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles.

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Janna’s role within the game is essentially to play around her teams and people with her Q, E and R abilities, with the hopes of protecting and denying any engage champions from touching her carries. As Renekton, typically we want to look for her to either use Q or R in a fight before hard committing ourselves onto their carries, but as we’re most likely giga fed and play a more frontline based position, as we need her to force out her R within a fight. If you successfully do this you can easily waste a portion of her kit, allowing your teammates to jump on her carries or allow you to easily one shot them with flash or having your dashes available. Alternatively, you can look to make picks with red trinket before a fight and use a higher damage play style to instantly nuke targets before any objectives or even Janna if she crosses through towards you.
