Jhin
Matchup Summary
Jhin is practically a free match up, as his inability to have consistent DPS costs him the ability to have many winning situations into Renekton. Renekton can practically dash at him at will, allowing him to easily have access and the damage needed to perma kill him on repeat. Jhin's only real chance of being relevant is using his W and R, in which you and your team should avoiding if you're low or isolated. Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he wants in this match up, allowing him to easily win the game.
Detailed Tips
- 01
Level 1 E Start - Try to cheese PTA proc or Conq with E1 > 3 auto's > disengage with E2.
- 02
Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Jhin you're most likely able to kill him with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Jhin lose a lot more.
- 03
Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.
- 04
Avoid Jhin’s 4th Shot - The only thing worth noting about this match up is that, Jhin’s 4th shot damage will deal additional damage based on how low his target’s HP is. With that being said, the lower you are the easier it is for him to finish off his kills. As Renekton, try to always keep your HP up to avoid being in his execute range, on top of also avoiding his 4th shot damage by walking out of his range.
- 05
Avoid Jhin W - Jhin W can be a great tool to last hit low HP kills, or set up his stuns for his teammates or his R shots to land. Try to always make sure you’re backing in good positions, otherwise Jhin can stop your recall or use it towards finishing you off. Within fights, try to also avoid being hit by his W to prevent his team capitalising on it.
- 06
Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.
- 07
Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the ability to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.
- 08
Avoid Jhin’s R Shots - Jhin’s R can be absolutely deadly within skirmishes or teamfights depending on how low his targets are. As Renekton, we can easily avoid his shots with good movement and usage of our dashes, on top of how tanky your overall stats are to prevent dying to his ult. When Jhin R’s with the intent of trying to kill your teammates, try to block his shots by standing behind your teammates to help tank his R.
- 09
Build Eclipse, Stridebreaker or Profane - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Jhin's mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles.
- 10
Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Jhin’s overall purpose within the mid to late game, is essentially to play as a utility long range ADC, dealing burst damage with his RFC and 4th shot damage, on top of using his W and R to pick off targets and help his team initiate plays. As Renekton, we can easily deal with Jhin’s presence by being able to help our teammates by blocking his R and W damage, on top of also aiming to dash onto him or other carries to try and eliminate them from the game. Renekton’s overall weakness is sitting and tanking ranged damage, with that it’s very important to try and jump onto him or any other targets as quickly as you can to avoid playing their game. If Jhin comes close enough within teamfights, try to immediately assassinate him with your combo to instantly nuke him from the game.
