Nidalee
Matchup Summary
Detailed Tips
- 01
Play For Sustain Early - Nidalee’s early grasp poke playstyle, can be a pretty annoying playstyle early. Nidalee’s playstyle consists of using bushes to obtain extra movement speed towards poking you down, on top of her chunking you out with her grasp autos to help her maintain damage within the lane. As Renekton, we must play with the intention of avoiding her core damage from her Q, as well as using our own Q to heal and outsustain Nidalee’s damage. Using D shield and Second Wind is also crucial for surviving in the lane against Nidalee, as her poke damage will fall off post level 6.
- 02
Avoid Nidalee Passive - Nidalee’s passive mark allows her to deal bonus damage in her cougar form on marked targets, allowing her to easily out trade and stat check her opponents. Nidalee’s damage entirely relies on landing a Q spear, or using her W traps to provide Nidalee’s ability to trade against her target. As long as you actively play to avoid either of those things, Nidalee will never have the damage to beat you. Avoiding her Q using well timed E’s,or using the minion wave to weave around her spears, will prevent her overall ability in being able to out damage you.
- 03
Avoid Nidalee Q - Nidalee’s Q allows her to hurl her spear towards her target, dealing tons of damage and marking her target in the process. Most often Nidalee’s committed trades will come in the hand of landing her Q, followed by switching to her Cougar from to leap and deal bonus damage towards her target.
- 04
Play For Manaburn - With Renekton opting into a heavy sustain based playstyle, Renekton can use that to help him mana burn through Nidalee’s offence. Typically when evading her main abilities, Renekton will get the upper hand through his empowered Q trades on top of his sustain based items. As long as you’re sticking to these tools, Nidalee will run out of mana, creating the ability to force all in trades.
- 05
Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.
- 06
Quick Trades - E > Q > AA > W > AA > E Out / E > Q > W > E / E Q E - These combos allow for Renekton to get quick damage off in being able to keep health up and whittling his opponent down, use these to get your laner low and look for a low HP kill with flash.
- 07
Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Once you reach level 6 your ultimate will essentially help you consistently stat check and dominate any match ups you were winning or losing. Make sure to always wait for your R CD to help you make plays, otherwise it will lead you towards a major disadvantage in dueling your enemies.
- 08
Build Eclipse, Black Cleaver or BoTRK - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Black Cleaver for additional CDR and other versatile stats for utility based gameplay. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build.
- 09
Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Nidalee’s overall scaling through the mid to late game is generally very poor, as her main attributes focus on her lane bully playstyle that either allows her to snowball the side lane, or fall into absolute irrelevance. Overall, Nidalee really cannot sustain her playstyle as it’s very quick to fall off based on her lack of AP damage through her tank build, or how generally harder it is to pilot through early to mid game. As Renekton, our power levels surpass Nidalee’s post level 6, allowing us to control and dominate any skirmishes or teamfights. Within the side lane, Renekton can easily fast push minion waves, always giving him the easiest opportunity to look for roams, or he can focus on 1v1’ing Nidalee with his overall item and R powerspikes. Within teamfights, Nidalee’s only hope to kill any targets is trying to land her Q, while following up her team on any isolated picks. As Renekton, our main objective can be to either peel against Nidalee using our W and empowered E to shred any armour, or we can play to distract or nuke her backline. Overall Nidalee’s role is simply limited in comparison to what Renekton can do.
