Detailed Tips

1. 01

   Level 1 Q or E Start - As mentioned through other notes, playing off Q and E both require different plays, however in this match up you can essentially do either of them and have pretty good success. Level 1 with Q you can also kill Qiyana if she is trying to be aggressive. With that said, play around the strengths of level 1 and look for a level 2 kill.

   Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Qiyana you're most likely able to kill her with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Qiyana lose a lot more.

   Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.

   Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.

   Play Around Her Element Q's - Qiyana doesn’t pose many threats towards Renekton, as he’s able to completely stat check and shut her down within all points of the game. One thing to play around however, is playing around her chosen element. Each element provides different purposes; her green element allows her to abuse stealth to play defensively, blue element allows her to stun and initiate combos onto her targets, and her red focuses on dealing high amounts of damage. Overall, play with caution towards her element, don’t let her tank her red or blue Q’s as they pose the most damage. When Qiyana uses her green element, try to hold your W for when she pops out of her stealth using attack move to instantly get the first hit on her. If you’re below 30% HP, respect the fact Qiyana can quickly burst you down using a fast combo and dealing bonus damage with her red element for being low.

   Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the ability to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.

   Avoid R Combo - Qiyana’s R combo allows her to push and stun her targets if they hit the river, bush or any terrain. Qiyana R is a really strong ability if used properly, as Qiyana can use it to instantly burst and one shot targets in a blink of an eye. If Qiyana misses her R, Qiyana loses out on a ton of value, so make sure to pay attention to her R casts at all times. If Qiyana doesn’t directly use R onto you, you can avoid the stun if you click, flash or dash away from the terrain, preventing Qiyana from stunning you and allowing you to capitalise on her engage. It’s always important to try and play away from these variables with her R, as one good R can essentially change the fight in teamfights.

   Build Eclipse, Stridebreaker or Profane - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Qiyana’s mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles.

9. 09

   Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Qiyana’s objective through the mid to late game is to hunt down squishy carries, using her fast combos and high damage to one shot her targets out of the game. When playing against Qiyana within the mid game, it’s important to play yellow trinkets or control wards on your side of the map, to prevent Qiyana sneaking through your jungle to help her reach your visible carries on the map. As long as you can spot her out with wards, pings, or coordinate counter attacks onto Qiyana, she will be unable to successfully play her game plan, overall leading to getting outscaled through her lack of relevancy through the game. Within teamfights, avoid clumping up against Qiyana to avoid her overall R value she’s able to gain. Try to always focus on Qiyana's movements, and as soon as she walks into range try to stun her to prevent her jumping onto your team. Make sure to always play with the intention of nuking her out of fights, as this will remove her role and overall team’s damage to win fights.
