Rakan
Matchup Summary
Not much to say about Rakan top, but this champion doesn't really do anything outside of having great teamfighting presence. Rakan will be easily tradable every time he jumps in as long as you time your W on his knock up, with that in mind he cannot really do anything impactful within solo lane. Your wave clear and bursts lets you do whatever want in this match up, however if he plays boring and negative you can always proxy and even take plates for free, as long as you have a stacked wave and he doesn't full CC combo you under tower.

Level 1 E Start - Try to cheese PTA proc or Conq with E1 > 3 auto's > disengage with E2.

Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Rakan you're most likely able to kill him with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Rakan lose a lot more.

Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.

Heavy Trades - Being that Renekton carries a lot of high damage, Renekton is able to just jump on his target nearly at will. Whenever your laners present you with the ability to jump on them, simply take the opportunity to burst them as much as you can. If you didn't kill them already from that, use your options of freezing or your tower diving ability to help you finish off your opponent.

Respect Rakan CC Combo - Rakan’s only real threat towards Renekton is within his ability to easily mass CC his opponents with his kit, on top of providing really great gank or lockdown setup for his team. Always respect Rakan around his teammates, try to avoid being in any situation that gets you picked off against multiple members unless you’re fed enough and can abuse Mercury Treads.

Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.

Ping Rakan Roams - Rakan’s as a laner absolutely sucks, so make sure to hard ping that he is missing when he roams, as that’s his main win condition to try and get his teammates ahead within the game.

Build Eclipse, Stridebreaker or BoTRK Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Rakan's mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build.

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Within the mid to late game, Rakan’s role is set towards an engage initiator and peel based role for his team. His overall objective is to hard engage multiple people with his R, on top of also CC’ing any targets that reach his main carries. As Renekton, we can counter his R engages by using our W instantly, allowing us to easily lock him down and force our teammates to burst him down if we have time to do that within the fight. Depending on how strong his carries are, it should be best to make sure we avoid giving Rakan any set up for engages, otherwise it can be very deadly. Try to look for isolated picks before any major objectives, or utilise your side laning power to force pushes against his weak side laning ability. Make sure to respect his engages if he’s coming to you with multiple people, as his CC is enough to shut you down. Alternatively, try to focus his carries if they’re available as that will lose him all damage to help his team win the fights.
