Shyvana
Matchup Summary
Detailed Tips
- 01
Level 1 Q Start - Try to push for level 2 advantage while poking Shyvana with your Q, on level 2 skill E/W use advantage to chunk out Shyvana.
- 02
Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Shyvana, you're most likely able to kill her with Your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Shyvana lose a lot more.
- 03
Respect Shyvana's Damage - Shyvana's early damage comes in the form of her E, which allows her to mark her target for 5 seconds providing additional on hit damage, attack speed and synergy with her Q and W trading power. While Shyvana’s laning damage isn’t overbearing, it should still be respected and you should aim to play around your abilities to ensure you don’t over trade into her overall strengths.
- 04
Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants within the early stage of the game. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.
- 05
Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.
- 06
Respect Shyvana R - Shyvana’s real powerspike comes in the form of her R, which allows her to empower all her abilities to a stronger state, on top of also having an absolute nuke of an ability with her E. Her E becomes a giant AoE one shot tool depending on her build, allowing her to easily nuke targets or provide giant dueling damage with her burn. Overall, once Shyvana ults and depending on her build, it’s usually best to avoid fighting her till it goes on CD. Shyvana without her R is pretty useless as the game goes on, so make sure to always abuse fights on her when she has no R up.
- 07
Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Once you reach level 6 your ultimate will essentially help you consistently stat check and dominate any match ups you were winning or losing. Make sure to always wait for your R CD to help you make plays, otherwise it will lead you towards a major disadvantage in dueling your enemies.
- 08
3 Points Q > W Max - This playstyle allows you to constantly have W’s to help you stay onto Shyvana while abusing your high damage ratios, allowing you to easily snowball and permanently shutdown Shyvana within all stages of the game. Make sure to put 3 points into your early wave clear and poke, then look to max W throughout the rest of your points. Once completed, max your E for additional mobility to help enable your up close stun abusing playstyle.
- 09
Build Eclipse, Black Cleaver or BoTRK - Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Black Cleaver for additional CDR and other versatile stats for utility based gameplay. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build.

Mid Game Teamfighting Tips - Shyvana is an underrated and strange pick in her ability to go heavy AP as her main purpose of playstyle, or she can opt into a hybrid damage playstyle with Riftmaker and Shojin, allowing her to be absolutely crazy in her dueling and splitpushing power. Depending on what playstyle she plays it’s important to value her strengths, with the intention of playing around it. When she’s going her hybrid build, Renekton typically cannot 1v1 her unless he has BoTRK and some MR resistances, however if she is splitpushing I’d usually recommend getting your team to help shut her down, as shutting her down solo can be rather difficult depending on how strong she is. If Shyvana has her AP build, she will opt into playing around teamfights and skirmishes with her one shot build, allowing her to instantly nuke targets and win the fights off that alone. Try to avoid fighting Shyvana being present, or try to bait her R then look to wait until its on CD. Shyvana as mentioned is very ult dependent to have playability, so make sure to get rid of it then look to abuse when she doesn’t have it anymore. Within teamfights, try to nuke the Shyvana or peel her away from your team, as her high damage and burst can completely change a fight. If you get to jump onto Shyvana, make sure to one shot her as fast as you can. Once killing Shyvana, the enemy will lose out on a ton of burst damage or front lining power, allowing you to carry and play the rest of the fights with ease.
