Twisted Fate
Matchup Summary
Detailed Tips
- 01
Level 1 E Start - Try to cheese PTA proc or Conq with E1 > 3 auto's > disengage with E2.
- 02
Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Twisted Fate you're most likely able to kill him with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Twisted Fate lose a lot more.
- 03
Avoid TF Poke - TF’s poke isn’t really meant to cause a lot of harm towards Renekton's laning ability, however it should be said that tanking too much damage vs AP champions is always a rough time for Renekton. Try to avoid TF's Q, W and E passive poke, avoiding any of these presents more successful trade opporunities to completely weaken TF's general ability within the game.
- 04
Respect TF’s Cards - TF’s cards provide a lot of utility that can help him within an abundance of situations. TF’s blue card allows him to sustain his mana through the laning while dealing the most single target damage. Red cards provide an AoE slow and damage to help wave clear or slow mass targets. Then finally his Gold card allows him to stun his target up to 1-2 seconds, providing great utility for catching out his targets. Try to avoid the strengths of TF’s card by avoiding their damage and overall utility they provide. In the laning phase, try to keep distance when TF has his card active and wait to trade once they go on cooldown.
- 05
Buffer W Stun Vs TF Gold Card - A big trick Renekton can do within the TF match up, to help Renekton stay consistently on TF is to abuse Renekton’s W buffering. When Renekton typically reaches TF, TF will panic to select his Gold card to help him peel off Renekton from comboing him. Instead, as soon as you land on TF you can spam W through your E, then spam right click to instantly W within the same frame TF throws his gold card. This is a big tool to help you burst TF down, so make sure to utilise this and mercury treads to break out of his stun faster to abuse TF in your own stun timer.
- 06
Quick Trades - Quick Trades - E > Q > AA > W > AA > E Out / E > Q > W > E / E Q E - These combos allow for Renekton to get quick damage off in being able to keep health up and whittling his opponent down, use these to get your laner low and look for a low HP kill with flash.
- 07
Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.
- 08
Abuse And Ping TF Roams - TF’s biggest power within the Renekton match up is being able to outroam and utilise his R presence to be anywhere on the map. TF R can be a big game changer to heavily impact the map, while being able to provide constant utility for his teammates. Try to constantly ping TF’s R and ping his roams in fog of war to help your teammate stay alert when he is missing. Alternatively, try to perma shove waves into his side of the map to help you get platings or keep him from leaving the lane.
- 09
Rush Mercury Treads, Eclipse, Stridebreaker or BoTRK - Go Mercury Treads to lower Twisted Fate’s overall damage and CC duration. / Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Stridebreaker to cripple Twisted Fate's mobility and provide teammates with additional utility. / Go BoTRK to one shot and snowball with a damage focused build.

Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - TF in the mid game will most likely be trying to play off side lanes, in his quick ability to shove the wave then he will most likely try to rotate in the objective to catch out individual targets with his rapid fire cannon/rocket belt gold card utility. To avoid TF from playing his game, simply stack and back ping any teammates over extending to avoid TF from getting to catch out any targets with R, or try to collapse on TF to make sure he is off the map and you’re able to play more aggressively. Alternatively in fights, try to focus the highest DPS characters first, then focus towards TF if he is still alive. TF functions off as a utility mage, in the objective to play for gold cards and present engage opportunities for his team. If you can eliminate any carries through this play method then TF will fall useless.
