Viego
Matchup Summary
Detailed Tips
- 01
Level 1 Q or E Start - As mentioned through other notes, playing off Q and E both require different plays, however in this match up you can essentially do either of them and have pretty good success. Level 1 with Q you can also kill Viego if he is trying to be aggressive. With that said, play around the strengths of level 1 and look for a level 2 kill.
- 02
Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Viego you're most likely able to kill him with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Viego lose a lot more.
- 03
Respect Viego's Long Trades - Viego's aim in the match ups is simply trying to go for long extended trades, utilising his passive to shred Renekton's HP. This however isn't as strong compared to much later in the game, so keep in mind these trades will get stronger.
- 04
Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.
- 05
Quick Trades - E > Q > AA > W > AA > E Out / E > Q > W > E / E Q E - These combos allow for Renekton to get quick damage off in being able to keep health up and whittling his opponent down, use these to get your laner low and look for a low HP kill with flash.
- 06
Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.
- 07
Respect Viego's R Resets - The only real thing to worry about in Renekton's POV is Viego getting resets on your team with R, following on with Viego using your teammates' souls to maintain consistent and mixed damage throughout the fights. Make sure to always ping your lowest HP teammates away from Viego, and also try to protect them from Viego's R engages to overall remove the total damage output he can provide.
- 08
3 Points Q > W Max - Renekton can abuse W max in this match up as Renekton can consistently carry out multiple stuns within a fight, ranging from 7 to 4 second CD. W Max ensures you always have the dueling advantage, alongside the utility to prevent Viego from playing the game in skirmishes and teamfights. (9 Build Plated Steelcaps, Eclipse or BoTRK - Go Plated Steelcaps to lower her Viego's overall damage and utilise the additional movement speed. / Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield / Go BoTRK to one shot and play a more damage focused build.
- 09
Mid Game + Teamfighting Tips - Within the mid game Viego's role is to focus on the lowest HP targets to utilise his soul passive alongside the ability to refresh his R executes. Renekton's role is pretty simple in the aspect that you want to just play to protect your teammates from his reset potential, while also actively looking out for the opportunity to jump on Viego and abuse your W max gameplay. Viego will most likely either force a death trying to kill your team, or he will waste R trying to escape, preventing him from being successful in any teamfights. In the side lane if Viego is split pushing, you can basically fight him at will with any build as your champion is just way stronger than what Viego really does.
