Warwick
Matchup Summary
Warwick is an even style match up for Renekton, due to Warwick's kit constantly having random ways of being able to surprise Renekton within the 1v1. As Renekton, rushing executioners is essential in being able to take away his power, as well as playing around your abilities to help you gradually get his HP down. Renekton will lose extended trades without his abilities, so playing around your abilities is crucial to having winning situations. Once Renekton has R and successfully plays around delaying his abilities against Warwick W, Renekton will be able to stat check and win the fights. Within the mid game, Warwick completley gets outscaled by Renekton's ability
Detailed Tips
- 01
Respect Warwick's Passive - The main aspect of this match up is simply understanding his passive. Once Warwick falls under 50% HP he heals 100% based on the damage he deals, while at 75%HP it is increased to 250%... Don't ego fight trades if he is low without having your abilities up, otherwise Warwick will massively out damage you and most likely win.
- 02
Level 1 Q Start - Use Level 1 To push for level 2, while trying to poke Warwick with Q and trying to stay away from trading him. Whenever WW walks up, just return an auto attack and Q, then kite back towards your side of the map. Try to mainly focus on reaching level 2 before fully committing, then by level 2 you can take W and try to assert lane dominance or burn out his barrier.
- 03
Quick Trades - Overtrading is a sin in this match up, Warwick will always have the upper hand until level 6 with his auto attacks and fast paced damage. Simply try to play off your ability cooldowns, then look to go more aggressively when you have them up.
- 04
Don't Heavy Trade Into Warwick E - Warwick's E has from 35 to 55% damage reduction when activated, so comboing into this cuts off a lot of Renekton's damage. Simply hold your abilities and damage until Warwick's E wears off, after this you can initiate more aggressive trades.
- 05
Hold W for Barrier - When Warwick is low, simply never initiate with W first, as Warwick can barrier within the stun, allowing him to return trade with auto attacks and out heal you. Simply wait for him to barrier first, then use empowered W to shield break and finish Warwick off at low HP.
- 06
Rush Anti Heal - Warwick's Healing is absolutely stupid in this match up, so rushing Executioners is simply key to lowering his overall power. Bramble is more abusable for Warwick to play around compared to Executioners, where Renekton can always apply it.
- 07
Play Wave On Your Side - Playing the wave on your side essentially means playing wave states on your side of the map, via abusing wave manipulation tactics or freezing on your side of the map. Simply use this to help you combo on your laner, taking away any space from them being able to trade you back (This also helps prevent the enemy running you down with their extended or sustained movement speed abilities). You can also use this wave state to run down your opponent with your abilities up, helping you obtain kills a lot easier vs stalemate or ranged match ups. Look to do this when your opponents are below 50% HP, or potentially make a mistake to provide you an all in opportunity to run them down.
- 08
Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Once you reach level 6 your ultimate will essentially help you consistently stat check and dominate any match ups you were winning or losing. Make sure to always wait for your R CD to help you make plays, otherwise it will lead you towards a major disadvantage in dueling your enemies.
- 09
3 Points Q > W Max - This strategy will allow you to have consistent 7-4 Second W's to allow you to self peel against Warwick, helping you easily deal with him within the mid to late game. Make sure to properly play around your W CDs and utilise your spacing to help aid your fighting ability.
- 10
Build Plated Steelcaps / Eclipse / Black Cleaver - Go Plated Steelcaps to lower Warwicks on hit damage / Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Black Cleaver for additional CDR and other versatile stats for utility based gameplay.
- 11
Midgame + Teamfighting Tips - In the mid game Warwick naturally falls off in relevancy as he is unable to cheese that part of the game compared to his early. Try to peel your carries by disabling Warwick R with your W, and try to one shot him the fight quickly before he tries to maintain his sustain. Within the side lane, try to play off your W CD and play to avoid long trades with his auto attacks, unless you have Eclipse, Cleaver and Sterak’s to help you tank out his damage and provide you enough haste to peel away from Warwick.
