Yone
Matchup Summary
Yone is a pretty easy lane for Renekton to snowball against, as Renekton has the ability to easily weave in and out of Yone's Q, as well as returning his heavy burst damage every time Yone gets into range. Yone's lack of stats and survivalbility makes him a sitting duck, in which Renekton can do the bare minimum and practically win. Make sure you use your shied break against Yone's W, as this will allow you to easily nuke through his shield and melt hsi HP bar. Once Yone gets BoTRK, his damage will be a lot more substantial, so make sure to rush Eclipse, BoTRK or Profane to help maintain damage to easily one shot him. Within teamfights, try to look out for Yone R engages, by using your W as soon as he finishes his R, or side stepping his ultimate altogether.
Detailed Tips
- 01
Level 1 Q Start - Level 1 Yone should technically have an advantage with Lethal Tempo, however Renekton's stats and base damage from Q, is enough to win level 1 fights to kill Yone, or allow you to push level 2 and abuse your early power. Try to avoid Q’s through fighting him, and return damage with auto attacks and weaving towards your minion wave.
- 02
Play For Level 2/3 Kill Angle - Once you chunk out Yone you're most likely able to kill him with your W, Dash or Flash up. Look to shove the wave around your kill timer, so you're able to make Yone lose a lot more.
- 03
Play For Movement - This essentially means, try to always click around Yone and time his 4-2 Second Q with your side steps, Yone losing out on missing a Q stack and damage really hurts his play potential for the lane. Another tip for the match up, is that if you can time W the same time through his Q frame, Yone deals 0 damage and doesn’t obtain a stack. Use this to outplay him even harder through your DPS.
- 04
Play Around His Shield - Yone W can be used to block Renekton's short trading damage, however Renekton can shred Yone's shield with Empowered W. Use Empowered W on his shield creation, Do not W in the same frame or Renekton W won't break the shield.
- 05
Abuse Renekton's Early Game - In this match up Renekton is essentially able to do whatever he simply wants. With that said, really hone into your strong early to mid game strengths to help you dominate and win the game. Play to deny your enemy of gold and xp, play to proxy and generally lead any top side skirmishes with your insane lane advantage.
- 06
Play off Yone's E positioning - Don't chase Yone while he uses E, try to sit on the location he has to go back to, which always ensures you're able to catch him and get your damage off if he’s initially trying to bait you out to chase him.
- 07
Play Waves Accordingly - Simply assess whether or not you want to play for freeze, to help you deny XP and CS, while presenting yourself more opportunities to create fights. Or, play to shove waves to create proxy angles, tempo resets or create a dive opportunity. Renekton has all the cards to do whatever he wants with wave management. Also respect that if your laner tries to proxy, simply proxy back or coordinate a kill on them with your jungler.
- 08
Abuse Renekton's R Powerspike - Once you reach level 6 your ultimate will essentially help you consistently stat check and dominate any match ups you were winning or losing. Make sure to always wait for your R CD to help you make plays, otherwise it will lead you towards a major disadvantage in dueling your enemies.
- 09
Respect Yone's R + CC combo - Yone's 3rd Q into R can be devastating combined with ganks, try to always avoid getting hit by Q with your movement or E. As for R, try to always be prepared for it in high pressure situations and avoid it with your E or Flash. Alternatively, Yone can use R to escape bad situations at times, in which you can counter if you dash in front of him to avoid his long dash to escape.
- 10
Points Q > W Max - Just like the Yasuo match up, Renekton can essentially overpower Yone throughout the whole game with W maxed out. Having 7-4 Second W’s results in Yone practically getting bullied throughout the whole game, even more so than a Yasuo would. Make sure to do this if you’re hard winning the lane and make sure to abuse it every time you come into contact with Yone.
- 11
Build Plated Steelcaps, Eclipse or Profane - Go Plated Steelcaps to lower Yone’s overall damage and utilise the additional movement speed. / Go Eclipse for consistent power through mid game and damage mitigation with the shield. / Go Profane for full damage focused playstyles and getting his passive easier.
- 12
Midgame And Teamfighting Tips - Within the mid game Yone's damage begins to spike in the 1v1 against Renekton, if Renekton goes more bruisery focused Yone will naturally outscale in side lane, however with W max and some items such as Death’s Dance or Randiun’s, Yone won’t be able to have the damage or sustain to beat Renekton in the 1v1. Within teamfights, Yone’s role is to look for a big R or Q3 engage, to allow him to get his damage off and present a giant opportunity for his team. Try to hard engage on Yone before he gets Q3, or block the R for your team. If Yone is in the open, you can simply play to lock him down your team instantly to make him irrelevant and useless to do much else.
